Today my wife and I got on a boat and headed to Georges Island, one of the many islands in Boston Harbor. It was a beautiful day and the island was fantastic, with a huge fort that covers nearly the whole area that was used to hold Confederate prisoners in the Civil War.You can go into a lot of the fort buildings and from the top of the ramparts you get great views of the other islands and of the Boston skyline. I hope you like the photos!
View of a neighbouring island. Boston Harbor does not usually look this good! The interior of Fort Warren with the Boston skyline behind.Boston Light in the distance. I only had my compact camera on me but the 10x zoom at least captured the lighthouse; with my phone camera it looked like a pencil!Former gun emplacements with Boston Light in the background.
I had no idea that island even existed. Thanks for cool pictures and info.
I didn’t even realise it existed until my wife suggested going haha. It’s worth a visit on a sunny day. 🙂
That is so amazing. I wish I could go there sometimes!
It’s definitely worth a visit! 🙂
What a lovely day you picked up for this trip. Very lovely snaps!
