For the past four days we have been roaming Iceland in our little rental car, driving long deserted stretches of road between mountains and lava fields. Yesterday we drove 200Km to the famous black sand beach at Vik on the south coast, stopping off at several huge waterfalls en route. The Icelandic scenery is beautiful and like nothing I’ve seen before so I thought I’d share some of my photos so far. These are only camera phone photos but they show a little bit of why Iceland is so special!
Some of the waterfalls and stone formations remind me of Hawaii. Which shouldn’t be a surprise, given their volcanoes, but it was. 🙂
I can imagine how they’d be similar being so influenced by volcanoes. Hawaii might be next on our list!
Breathtaking!
I’m so jealous! Great photos – the beach ones look especially good.
The beach is so stunning, hope the photos on my proper camera do it justice when I get home to look at them!
Fabulous
Looks like you’ve picked some scenic spots to explore! Still Very Jealous over here! 🙂
The whole island is scenic which helps! 🙂
