Yesterday we drove the Golden Circle which is Iceland’s most popular tourist route and I fell into a lake! The route consists of Pingvellir National Park, Geysir, Gulfoss waterfall and a number of smaller stop offs. It was the first sunny day we have had here meaning I got to see Iceland with a blue sky for the first time. I hope you like the photos!
Gulfoss waterfall with a beautiful rainbow!
The Strokkur geyser erupts every 8-10 minutesThere is lots of geothermal activity at GeysirThe water in this lake was so clear that I fell into it by accident!Pingvellir National ParkKerid is the crater of an extinct volcanoHveragerdi has hissing vents and bubbling mud pools dotting the landscape
Haha yeah that would’ve been embarrassing! I was lucky in that I was wearing hiking trousers (pants) so could turn them into shorts after although I got some strange looks as it was cold! My boots are still soaked haha.
So there were some metal stairs leading into the lake (so scuba divers can get out) and the water was so clear I didn’t see it went right upto the top and just walked straight in! Oops!
Love the rainbow and there is so much power and energy emanating from the water pics
First photo is MAGNIFICENT! But…….we need to get your wife quicker on the draw with the camera…the one of you in a lake would’ve been a hoot! 🙂

Hurrah for sunshine! I really like your bird’s eye view of Gulfoss.
We were so thrilled to get a rainbow after having seen so many photos of waterfalls with them! 🙂
This looks AMAZING!! I am going in November and these last few posts have made me even more excited for it!!
You’ll have an amazing time for sure, I just got back and I want to go again already!
Wow and Wow.
I want to hear more about the fall, did you just not see the water and walked right into it? Gorgeous picks, our skies never seem to be that blue!
