In the past two weeks I have been back to England, had a city break in Edinburgh and returned home to the US. Its been an eventful few weeks with a grand total of 5 flights! I thought I’d share some of the photos with you now that I actually have some time to sit down. I hope you are all having a great weekend!
View from the top of Edinburgh CastleThe imposing castle from down belowStained glass window inside St Margaret’s Chapel, the oldest building in the castle. The chapel dates from around 1130.Like the gunners who once fired this cannon, I was trying to get a good shot. There was a lot of precipitation
After getting back from Scotland I had time for a coastal walk near my hometownMaking full use of the last light on a beautiful sunny day
No, I didn’t. I was there by myself, and only for 2 1/2 days, so I opted for the tourist bus on day 1 (doing the hopping on and off thing), and then for exploring by foot on day 2. Maybe next time π
That’s totally fair! A good excuse to go back. π
The world’s a funny place of coincidences sometimes, my current home city and my old home town both in the same post! Great pictures of both.
It’s those coincidences that make life so much fun! Both cities are wonderful places. I think you’ve been to all of my “must visit” archaeological places by the way and I’m jealous! Reading through your posts on Skara Brae and the Ring of Brodgar at the moment. π
“I was trying to get a good shot” — clever caption!! And lovely photos as well π
I’m glad you liked them! π
Edinburgh’s a wonderful city, isn’t it? Have you ever seen the Tattoo on tv? Great photos as alwaysππ»
It’s beautiful, it was my first time up there! Would love to go back and explore more. π
I love Edinburgh, not been for years though. That window is gorgeous! Looks like you had a grand time π
It’s a beautiful city! Couldn’t not take a shot of the window when I saw it, I love stained glass. π
Glad you did not throw away your shot. π
I never miss a good shot. π
Just been to Edinburgh myself in April – beautiful. And even though I’d been once before, I really wouldn’t mind going again.
I would love to go back too! Did you get to explore the surrounding area? I wanted to go to Stirling Castle but didn’t have time.

Scotland certainly has its fair share of sites, though they’re not that easy to get to even when you already live north of the border.
